I normally do not go to chapel on Fridays. But yesterday Chuck Swindoll was speaking so I ducked out of work to go hear him. As I was leaving after to chapel to head back to work, I stopped at one of the benches to return a call from a friend I had not heard from in a long time. As I was dialing, who should come along but the man himself
She didn't answer and as I got up he had just left a couple of people. So I introduced myself and let him know about the significance of something he said at the end of one of his broadcasts at a crucial time in my Christian life that had so much to do with why I am at DTS. To be able to tell him that in person and walk with him for a minute as he talked about his time in New England, was really, really a treat.
It was a short exchange but it did highlight something in my thinking. We never know who we're going to meet. God in His providence can arrange encounters in our lives that can change courses of lives, for any type of situation...business, personal, ministry. And it can happen suddenly and unexpectedly. So we who follow Christ and find ourselves in places that need a hand up, a shifted direction or an infusion of something great need not fear. God is in control and can arrange that chance meeting, probably when we least expect it.

Wow. Chuck Swindoll. My pastor is a DTS guy and he talks about Chuck's teaching and books a lot. lol. I like Chuck and I used to listen to him on the radio more than I do now. I don't listen to the radio as much anymore.
That is so true about people God has us meet at certian times in our lives. God places those people there for a reason even if we may not see it then or sometime in the future.
So what did Chuck Swindoll say in his broadcast that had such a profound affect on you and your walk at that time?
@vangelicmonk - I had just started being confronted with how I approached reading the bible, which of course can impact how we understand what it says. I was beginning to be confronted with the fact that I had possibly believed some things wrongly. With conflict arising, one night I got on my knees and prayed probably the most simple and sincere prayer in my life...Lord, I really want to know your truth.
The next morning I was listening to the Insight for Living broadcast and at the end, he said that our faith walk begins with right thinking about theology. From that point everything begin to change and it is the path that has led me to DTS.
@lisarinri - Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Praise God for answering your hearts desire to know Truth more clearly. :) What a testament of a very sincere and vulnerable prayer to God and His gentle answer.
Next time you see the Chuckster, tell him "Massachusetts" sez Yo. He started calling me that when I was in Stonebriar for the week in '06. Glad you got to meet him. Stand up guy.
